Sawdust Theatre 2025 Open House/Kick-off Party & Auditions The Sawdust Theatre is preparing for its 2025 season and has scheduled its annual Season Open House/Kick-Off Party and Auditions for its summer melodrama late this month. The Season Open House/Kick-Off Party will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 25 and is open to the public. The theatre manager, Michael Thurman, invites everyone to attend so they may tour the theatre and talk with Sawdust Theatre members. The 2025 melodrama will be titled “Recipe for Disaster” or “Camilla's Culinary Quandary” was written by Cindy Robnett and Edna Cotner. It originally premiered at the theatre in 2008. Auditions for the cast will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 26 and at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, January 27. Auditions for the olio performers will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28. All auditions will be held at the theatre, located at 120 N. Adams St., Coquille. The play will be double cast, so each character will have two actors/actresses ready for each performance. Nancy Wilson, the play’s director, is looking for 10 men and 10 women over age 16 to fill the roles. The melodrama revolves around local philanthropist, Camilla Reitman and her family. Will Eugenia & Henry Lorenz find a suitable suitor for their daughter, Camilla? Or, will Camilla's cooking be a recipe for disaster and cost her the affections of the right man (our hero, Carl Rightman)? Will the villainous Leopold Lecher and his lackeys follow through with their “gold”en opportunity and continue their chaos? All these questions, and more, are answered on stage at the Sawdust Theatre this summer!
