Alex Cook, refuge manager with the US Fish and Wildlife Service in Bandon will speak about the birds who call the Oregon Coast and our National Wildlife Refuges home.
This presentation will cover seabird colonies on rocky offshore islands to the secretive species of the vegetated marshes of our estuaries.
Alex has worked as an avian biologist on research projects all of the country and most recently graduated with a Master’s degree in Wildlife Conservation from the State University of New York-College of Environmental Science and Forestry.
She has worked with a variety of coastal bird species including beach nesting plovers, salt marsh nesting sparrows, and artic breeding shorebirds. She is excited to be working on the Oregon Coast now.
This is the first seminar in a series hosted by Shoreline Education for Awareness. For future seminars see our website: sea-edu.org.
