DESCRIPTION:Bandon Playhouse will hold auditions for the production of the comedic play\, "A Christmas Story." Cast and crew age 10 and older are invited.\n\n\n\nYoung actors are invited to audition on Friday\, Oct. 4\, from 5 - 7 p.m. and Saturday\, Oct. 5\, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.\n\n\n\nAdults are invited to audition on Friday\, Oct. 4\, from 7 - 9 p.m. and Saturday\, Oct. 5\, from 1 - 3 p.m.\n\n\n\nAll auditions will be held at the Sprague Community Theater\, 1202 11th St\, in Bandon City Park. Actors should be prepared to tell a joke (or two) or they may share a funny story. We will also ask them to read together from the script.\n\n\n\nFind character descriptions\, scenes and rehearsal information at BandonPlayhouse.org.\n\n\n\nPerformances are scheduled two weekends\, Nov. 29\, 30 and Dec. 1\, 6\, 7\, 8.\n\n\n\nHumorist Jean Shepherd's memoir of growing up in the Midwest in the 1940s follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas. Ralphie pleads his case before his mother\, his teacher and even \n\nSanta Claus himself\, at Higbee's Department Store. \n\n\n\nThe consistent response: "You'll shoot your eye out!" \n\n\n\nAll the elements from the beloved motion picture are here\, including the family's \n\ntemperamental exploding furnace\; Scut Farkas\, the school bully\; the boys' experiment with a wet tongue on a cold lamppost\; the Little Orphan Annie decoder pin\; Ralphie's father winning a lamp shaped like a woman's leg in a net stocking\; Ralphie's fantasy scenarios and more.
